She holds a B.Sc. in Psychology and an M.Sc. in Applied Psychology with a specialisation in Counselling, both from Women’s Christian College in India—training that laid the groundwork for her culturally attuned approach to therapy. She later completed a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) from Oklahoma City University, USA, where she deepened her understanding of human development and psychological support. Her ongoing specialisation in Expressive Arts Therapy is through the Florida Institute of Expressive Arts Therapy.
Sangita’s clinical work spans hospitals, mental health clinics, and private practice settings. Previously, she lent her expertise to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai and the Clinical Psychology Department of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education.
She has worked with individuals from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, addressing concerns such as anxiety, trauma, and emotional regulation.. Her experience across India, Europe, and North America gives her a deep appreciation for the cultural and relational layers that shape healing.
Outside her practice, Sangita is an avid reader and actively engaged in the community arts, particularly music and theatre. She also works with visual art, movement, and time outdoors—creative practices that inform and deepen her therapeutic approach.
Our approach is both trauma-informed and integrative. We work with a deep awareness of how trauma, whether rooted in childhood, relationships, loss, or systemic harm, can shape your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships. This means safety, choice, and control are central to your healing process.
This is also a Person-centred space, drawing from the philosophy of Carl Rogers. We meet you with empathy, honesty, and unconditional positive regard, trusting in your innate capacity for growth.
You’ll never be pushed to share more than you’re ready for. We move at your pace, attuned to your nervous system and comfort, whether in person or online.
An integrative approach allows us to draw from a range of methods, including EMDR, EFT, Expressive Arts Therapy, and skill-based anxiety treatment. Some sessions may feel reflective and creative, others more structured and practical. We’ll discover what works best, together, through a collaborative and respectful process.
